Krabi is one of Thailand’s top destinations known for its limestone cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and laid-back vibe.
On my first trip to Thailand I was blown away by the amount of activities I could get into and how affordable it was.
Now, you might not ever have heard of Krabi, but it is a province that includes the Phi Phi islands where the famous Maya Bay is located.
If you have the time and you plan on visiting Southern Thailand, here are some of the best things to do in Krabi, Thailand, including some hidden gems and attractions you never dreamed of.
By far, I think you will agree, that these are some of the best things to do in Krabi for an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait to return to so see what else we can get into.
25 Best Things To Do in Krabi, Thailand
1. Visit Railay Beach
Railay is actually comprised of a few sandy beach areas.
West Railay stands out with its powdery sand and dramatic limestone cliffs. East Railay does not have as much area for sunbathing but this side is where much of the rock climbing occurs and nightlife.
It is also where the path leads to a few other notable sites, like Phra Nang Cave Beach.
You can only reach Railay by boat. this helps keep the atmosphere here more chill and relaxed because there are no streets for cars and motorbikes.
Spend the day swimming, sunbathing, or trying your hand at rock climbing, which is popular here.
Evenings on West Railay will showcase the most incredible sunsets with a relaxed beach bar scene if you are interested. My friend Tyson and I actually rented a kayak from here and kayaked over to Phra Nang Cave Beach.
If you’re curious and more adventurous there is plenty to discover in Railay overall.
2. Hike to Tonsai Beach from West Railay Beach
From West Railay Beach you can also visit Tonsai Beach which is another smaller beach right next to West Railay Beach.
It’s worth exploring if you are looking for a little more of an isolated beach environment.
For me it was quite an adventure. At the time, you had the option of walking along the beach but only during low tide or hiking through the jungle up through and between some large rock formations.

3. Explore the Phi Phi Islands
Take a day trip to the famous Phi Phi Islands to see Maya Bay, turquoise lagoons, and colorful marine life. Snorkeling, diving, and boat tours are the best ways to enjoy this stunning archipelago.

4. Hike to Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea)

5. Swim in the Emerald Pool
The Emerald Pool, or Sa Morakot, is a natural spring located in the Thung Teao Forest Natural Park. The water is cool, clear, and takes on an incredible blue-green color thanks to surrounding minerals. The experience feels otherworldly, and forest trails make this a unique swimming spot.
6. Relax in the Klong Thom Hot Springs
After a hike or a day at the beach, relax in the Klong Thom Hot Springs. The natural hot pools are tucked away in the jungle, where the warm, mineral-rich water is said to have healing properties.
Follow up your visit with a trip to the nearby Emerald Pool for the perfect afternoon.

Hop on a boat and discover Krabi’s famous Four Islands:

You can find very affordable day tours on a classic long tail boat or speedboat if you like. These spots are known for white sand beaches, sea caves, and snorkeling with vibrant coral and tropical fish.
It’s an easy day trip and one of the best ways to capture Krabi’s island scenery.
Some tours may cruise past Phra Nang Cave beach which is also a nice stop if you are visiting Railay beach.

Ao Thalane is a mangrove forest area with winding waterways, limestone cliffs, and hidden coves. Rent a kayak and paddle through quiet tunnels surrounded by nature.

I had one of my most memorable experiences while riding my motorbike with a group of pre-teens taunting me on a lone countryside road with water buffalo pastures and giant karsts in the background. It’s hard to describe, but it was a surreal feeling for sure.
Koh Lanta is less crowded than other islands, making it an ideal for a chill getaway.
14. Hike the Tab Kak Hang Nak Nature Trail
For panoramic views of Krabi, hike the Tab Kak Hang Nak Nature Trail.
The trek takes about two hours each way, but the view from the top over forest, ocean, and islands is worth every step.
Bring water, sunscreen, and your camera for one of Krabi’s top nature experiences.
15. Enjoy Sunset at Ao Nang Beach
Ao Nang Beach is a lively spot with plenty of restaurants, bars, and beachfront hangouts.
Even if you’re not staying here, come for the sunset—local long-tail boats make for perfect photos with the sky turning orange and pink over the water.

The Monkey Trail is a scenic path connecting Ao Nang Beach and Pai Plong Beach, often with monkeys spotted along the way.

17. Find The Bat Cave on Phra Nang Beach
Hike up to the bat cave in Railay Beach, it is a little challenging but if you’re a little more adventurous and have the mobility and stamina it is worth the climb. You will be climbing over some large rocks and squeezing in between small cave openings.
Once you reach a certain point you will be blessed with stunning views of the turquoise waters rock formations as in the picture below.
Inside the cave you may even find thousands of bats hanging from the ceiling!
I’ve been there twice, and hopefully the next time I will find the path that leads to West Railay through the cave!
18. Explore Phang Nga Bay by Boat
Phang Nga Bay, famous for its limestone islands and emerald-green water, is best explored by boat.
The blue-green lagoons, sometimes hidden caves and mangroves make this a popular daytime excursion by boat.
You can find guided day tours by long tail boat or hire a private boat in Ao Nang and Railay Beach.
I recommend planning your trip for an early morning sunrise excursion for calmer seas and quiet scenery.
19. Try A Thai Cooking Class
Krabi offers plenty of hands-on cooking classes where you’ll shop at local markets then learn to make dishes like Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Som Tam, and Green Curry.
These classes are a great way to connect with Thai culture—and eat delicious food!
I haven’t had the opportunity to try a Thai cooking class yet, but I’ve heard such great things that make the experience memorable.
For example, you not only get hands-on instruction from real Thai chefs but you will have the opportunity to shop local markets to really get to know the ingredients used.
This makes the entire experience much more enriching especially if you have a small class size.
Again, not only do you get to eat what you make but now you have added to your arsenal of amazing recipes you can now make at home!
20. Visit Koh Jum for a Quiet Escape
If you want peace and authenticity, head to Koh Jum. The island is less developed, with simple bungalows, stunning sunsets, and quiet beaches. Life moves at a slow pace here, making it perfect for unwinding.

Thung Teao Forest Natural Park is home to lush forest, rare plants, and plenty of nature trails. The main draw is the Blue Pool, a deep turquoise pond. Birdwatching and wildlife spotting are great in the early morning.
